Project Details

Background
Elexicon Energy is an electrical distribution company, responsible for supporting over 171,000 customers in communities east of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). In 2019, the organization was formed through the merger of Veridian Connections and Whitby Hydro. In 2020, the organization was responsible for providing essential services to the community during the pandemic.
Operational costs were higher by year-end with Elexicon Energy seeking an employee recognition solution that would streamline costs, mitigate COVID protocol uncertainty and reduce staff time commitment. The recognition event needed to acknowledge the customs of the two holiday events that would normally take place at this time of year, while also establishing a new employee experience for the brand.

Objective
To create one virtual event in place of two in-person events, celebrating the holidays.

Execution
Our team created a one-hour virtual holiday event that included pre-recorded speeches, presentations and performance footage. The event followed a similar format to both former in-person events, creating a sense of cultural continuity and building on new employer branding. By pre-recording executive leadership messages in small groups, we were able to minimize contact in the interest of safety and ensure all leadership messages could be delivered at the final virtual event.

Result
The virtual event was published on schedule, ahead of the holiday season to thank our employees for their essential service during a difficult pandemic year. More than $25K was saved by moving events virtually. The hour-long video was posted on our intranet for an additional three weeks after launch, viewed more than 430 times by our 270 person workforce.

"I always look forward to working with Leshanne because I can count on her to be accessible, collaborative and professional at all times. She's always asking questions to learn about what my team needs to ensure our projects run effectively and smoothly. Her ability to anticipate obstacles in the creative process is a tremendous help and is in part, why she creates a positive production experience for all involved. If you're looking for someone that cares about high-quality work as much as the production process to get there, Leshanne is the person that you're looking for."
